(Condensed) SOLIDWORKS Hardware Requirements

CPU (Processor)

Supported: Intel or AMD

Intel Xeon processors recommended

Unsupported: Apple Silicon or ARM

 

Prioritise clock speeds over core count for SW modelling however, simulations can make use of higher core counts.

Aim for the latest generation where possible

GPU (Graphics Card)

Supported GPUs designed for workstations such as

Entry: NVIDIA RTX 1000/2000 Ada

Mid-Range: NVIDIA RTX 4000 Ada

High-End: NVIDIA RTX Pro 5000/6000

Avoid gaming GPUs (e.g., GeForce) or unsupported models.

Storage

Type: NVMe SSD (M.2) for OS and software

Avoid network drives or OneDrive for SOLIDWORKS data/file storage

 

Use SOLIDWORKS PDM/3DEXPERIENCE for data management

RAM (Memory)

Minimum recommended: 32GB

Heavy Workloads: 64GB+

 

Operating System

Windows 11

 Avoid Windows 10
