This blog is a summarised version of our longer blog on recommended hardware for SOLIDWORKS, which can be found HERE.
CPU (Processor)
Supported: Intel or AMD
Intel Xeon processors recommended
Unsupported: Apple Silicon or ARM
Prioritise clock speeds over core count for SW modelling however, simulations can make use of higher core counts.
Aim for the latest generation where possible
GPU (Graphics Card)
Supported GPUs designed for workstations such as
Entry: NVIDIA RTX 1000/2000 Ada
Mid-Range: NVIDIA RTX 4000 Ada
High-End: NVIDIA RTX Pro 5000/6000
Avoid gaming GPUs (e.g., GeForce) or unsupported models.
Check GPU and drivers compatibility - HERE
Storage
Type: NVMe SSD (M.2) for OS and software
Avoid network drives or OneDrive for SOLIDWORKS data/file storage
Use SOLIDWORKS PDM/3DEXPERIENCE for data management
