In November 2023 we invited pupils of Larbert High to design a new space for Maggie’s Cancer Centre, Forth Valley, in Larbert.
Challenge
The challenge was to design an indoor/outdoor space to complement the existing Maggie’s Centre building, taking inspiration from the beautiful surroundings it sits within.
Incorporating at least one design element from the existing building within a 5m x5m space was key to the brief.
We are delighted to say that a number of pupils took up the challenge and presented their designs for consideration before the Christmas deadline.
The variation in design submissions were very interesting, with each concept following their inspiration, thought processes and problem solving, leading to the final design.
Any of the submissions could have found a place at Maggie’s, as an extension to their architecturally stunning building.
Winning Entry
TMS offered a prize incentive of Amazon vouchers for the winner.
In addition, Liam in our Autodesk team took up the challenge to recreate their designs in Revit, producing a 3D model of the space and how it would sit within the surroundings in different weather conditions.
The winners had their design created into a 3D walk through animation, allowing us all to get a photorealistic feel of what the space would look like.
Tailor and Grace had the winning design for their craft room which would have been incorporated into the grounds of the Maggie’s Centre.
Their vision was well thought out and their concept was translated into a fantastic visual for us all to enjoy.
A presentation was held at Maggie’s on the 19th of January where Tailor and Grace received their well-deserved prize with their families, staff from Maggie’s and TMS.
Congratulations to both for a job well done and thanks to all those who took part !
