Additional Information for Training Attendees

Online Courses

At TMS we always strive to provide the best possible support and training for our customers and for that reason, we now offer online courses. Attendees are able to participate and join the training courses, which are still be run by our certified training instructors, from anywhere in the world.

How does it work?
Attendees will attend the training courses via the GoToTraining software which will allow all attendees to see and hear the trainer, and their screen. Attendees will receive a meeting invite a couple of days before the training course so they can add the meeting to their calendar and then use the link in the meeting invite to join the course.

What time does the course start and end each day?
Our online training courses will keep to the same time-frames as courses which normally run in our office. This means that attendees can join the meeting from 9am with training officially starting at 9:30am. Training will finish around the same time of 4:30pm.

Will there be breaks and when is lunch?
During the training course we will have short breaks for users as required between lessons. Lunch will start around 12:30pm for approximately 1 hour.

What equipment/set-up will I need to have or prepare?
You won’t need much hardware or preparation (and some are optional) but below is a list of everything you may need/want:

  • PC (required) – Any computer with an internet connection and capable of running the applicable software if you have it installed.
  • Dual Monitors (preferable) – This is so you can have your CAD software open on one screen and the trainer's screen on the other, or your online training manual on a second screen.
  • Microphone (preferable) – Allows you to talk with the trainer and ask questions. A chat window is available for users without microphones.
  • Speakers – If using a desktop PC you will likely need speakers/headset to hear the trainer/others.
  • Software (required) – You will be required to have the appropriate software already installed and activated/licensed on your PC such as SOLIDWORKS, DraftSight, Simulation etc.
  • GoToTraining Software (supplied) – You will receive an email invitation for the meeting which you can click to download this software. Administration rights may be required on your PC in order to install the GoToTraining software successfully.
  • Training Manual – All SOLIDWORKS course attendees will receive an eBook prior to the course start date You will be able to view that eBook for at least 4 years after it was first published

* Some Training courses may require a specific version of software such as SOLIDWORKS Professional/Premium. Should a specific version be required for a particular course this will be outlined to you.

What if I get stuck on an exercise?
Should you get stuck while completing an exercise or receive an error message, the trainer has the ability in the GoToMeeting software to request access to see your screen and also request keyboard/mouse control so they can see what is going on and resolve any questions or issues you may have.
